Friends, family and officers are saying a final goodbye to a Michigan State Police officer killed in the line of duty.

LINCOLN PARK, MI (AP)— A Michigan State Police officer will be taken off life support after his vehicle was rear-ended last week while parked along I-75 near Detroit. Daniel Kerstetter worked for the state police Motor Carrier Division, which keeps an eye on trucks and other commercial vehicles.

Kerstetter, 45, could not overcome the injuries he sustained in the Friday crash, and his family decided to donate his organs, according to the state police.
