The iconic toy maker and entertainment company Hasbro is considering uprooting its headquarters in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, to Boston.

Toy and game maker Hasbro is looking at moving its headquarters from Rhode Island to downtown Boston, according to a new report.

The toy company responsible for Monopoly, Play-Doh and My Little Pony might be shipping up to Boston. Hasbro, one of the world’s best known toy companies, is reportedly considering moving its headquarters to Boston from Pawtucket,

Since its founding more than a century ago in Providence, Hasbro has been headquartered in Rhode Island. Its name is behind many well-known brands, including Monopoly, Play-Doh, G.I. Joe, Twister, Nerf, and more.

According to the BBJ, the company’s lease on its Pawtucket headquarters is up in 2025. Hasbro is the second major toy brand to consider making Boston its home. Last year, Lego announced that it would be leaving its longtime North American headquarters in Enfield, Connecticut for Boston beginning in 2025.

Hasbro – named for the two brothers, Henry and Helal Hassenfeld, who launched the company in Providence as a maker of pencil boxes in 1923 – dates to the time when Rhode Island’s capital city was an industrial powerhouse.

After toymaker Hasbro confirmed it is considering relocating its headquarters out of Rhode Island, Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien said keeping the company local is a top priority. 12 News Reporter Hannah Cotter has the story.
