The summer of 2024 has seen various kinds of extreme weather batter Europe. Storm Boris has already caused severe flooding and the deaths of 24 people in Austria and Poland. Greece has been subject to heatwaves and wildfires, and Portugal is suffering with wildfires this week. S torms affected Switzerland, Italy and France in July.

The northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna was flooded overnight after the region experienced torrential rains.

After causing historic floods in central Europe, Storm Boris continues to bring devastating weather. With heavy rain now across northern areas of Italy, there is a continued risk of flooding. Red warnings for flooding and landslides have been issued for eastern Emilia- Romagna.

Italian authorities evacuated some 1,000 people from their homes as the tail end of Storm Boris pummelled a northeastern region that was devastated by deadly flooding last year, regional authorities said on Thursday.
