The band's final recordings took place in August 1969 for 'The End' which featured on the album 'Abbey Road'. A month later, John informed his fellow members that he was leaving the band, asking for a 'divorce' from The Beatles.

It was the news fans dreaded, and the four men who comprised The Beatles kept it from them for as long as possible. But Paul McCartney shattered the illusion in 1970 with a series of comments that made it impossible for fans to harbor any more illusions.

"When we came, it was quite shortly after Kennedy being assassinated," Paul McCartney says in the trailer, released Thursday. "Maybe America needed something like The Beatles to be lifted out of sorrow.
