Carlos Prates is setting his sights on some of the big dogs in the welterweight division. Prates (21-6 MMA, 4-0 UFC), who knocked out Neil Magny this past Saturday in the main event of UFC Fight Night 247,

Prates improved to 20-6 and extended his knockout streak to 10. The Brazilian fighter is undefeated in five appearances under the UFC umbrella. Magny (29-12) is now on a two-fight losing skid for the first time in 11 years.

The UFC officially has a new — and ferocious — welterweight contender. Matched against Neil Magny for his first UFC main event, Carlos Prates passed Saturday's test with flying colors, knocking out the record-setting veteran with a brutal punching assault in the closing seconds of round one at UFC Vegas 100.
