Indian actor Kamal Haasan penned a note for his fans, asking them to call him by his name. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Haasan said that he feels “gratitude over being bestowed with endearing titles such as Ulaganayagan,” however, he respectfully declined all such titles and prefixes, calling himself a student of the art of cinema.

On November 11, Monday, legendary actor Kamal Haasan took to his official X (formerly Twitter handle) to issue a statement where he requested his fans to dop all honorary titles and accolades that have been bestowed upon him by them including the popular 'Ulaganayagan' and 'Aandavar'.

Kamal Haasan has been an iconic sensation for countless audiences across the globe. Such has been the amount of love that he has received over time, that people have even used the prefix of high praise Ulaganayagan to refer to him.

Kamal Haasan declines honorary titles like Ulaganayagan and requests to be addressed simply as Kamal, emphasizing humility and his commitment to the art of cinema.

The statement read, "I have always felt a deep sense of gratitude over being bestowed with endearing titles such as Ulaganayagan, among others. Such accolades, given by the people and recognised by esteemed colleagues and admirers, have always been humbling, and I've been genuinely moved by your love in conferring it upon me."

Looks like Kamal Haasan taken a leaf our of Ajith Kumar's book and has requested both the fans and media to drop any prefix to his name.

The veteran Tamil actor took to his social media account on November 11 to pen a long note urging his fans not to add titles in front of his name. The actor reasoned that cinema is bigger than any individual and that he remained a student of it and so does not need to be addressed with anything other than his name.

Days after celebrating his 70th birthday, Haasan shared a long statement in Tamil and English, requesting his fans to refer to him as Kamal Haasan, Kamal or KH.
